What qualities define a moment of connection? Whether to person, place, or object, connection grounds all of us in the playground of empathy. As the son of a psychiatrist and speech language pathologist, psychology and dialogue serve as foundational conduits in my design and thought process, always through an empathetic lens. I am drawn towards understanding this human desire to connect and the role that design and branding can play in fostering immersive spaces for gathering, relaxing, tasting, exploring, etc., especially within the context of hospitality, food and beverage innovation, and experiential retail. I am a fervent proponent of historic preservation and adaptive reuse, perpetually fascinated by how spaces change over time and how our individual and collective memories and experiences frame our internal and external perceptions. Above all else, I believe successful design is reached through the conscious renunciation of ego and willingness to learn from others as well as yourself.
